Positive for Covid-19

Students who test positive are expected to self-isolate. This expectation continues at school so that we can keep infections to a minimum and keep the school running. Young people who test positive should stay home and avoid contact with others for at least 3 days.  Similarly, anyone with symptoms should stay at home.

Students are asked to use their test kits before returning to school. 

Other siblings can attend school unless they are unwell, are symptomatic or have a temperature of 37.8C or above, but, please keep a watchful eye out for symptoms.  Students are advised to do lateral flow tests where this is possible.

Lateral Flow Testing

All students have been given a stock of lateral flow tests to take home, but schools are now no longer able to order any further supplies. Lateral Flow test kits will continue to be able to be available from local pharmacies.

The government has now removed the guidance for students in most education settings to routinely undertake asymptomatic testing.

Close Contact

If your child has extended close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 your child can attend school unless they feel unwell, are symptomatic or have a temperature of 37.8C or above, but, please keep a watchful eye out for symptoms

Your child is advised to do lateral flow tests where this is possible.  Students can undertake a test at school if they go to the Testing Bay near the Mentors Room.

Face coverings

Face coverings are no longer compulsory in school. However, many students and staff prefer to wear masks in classrooms and communal should continue to feel free to do so, this is not discouraged

Remote Learning

If your child has to isolate or is unwell they can continue their learning remotely by accessing subject materials as shown in the Remote Learning section of this website.

Wider Covid-19 impact on the School

We aim to continue to operate lessons in schools as normally as we can, however, if we were to get to a point where a large number of staff were unable to come into school, it may then become necessary to assign groups of students to remote learning for specific days. We will continue to do our absolute utmost to avoid this.
