Food and the GladeDiner

Breakfast

Pupils that arrive before 8:00am can receive a free breakfast prepared by the GladeDiner fresh every day.

Year 7 and Year 8 pupils are also invited to attend Stepping Stones mentoring (starting at 8:15am) which also includes a free breakfast.

Breaktime & Lunchtime Service

The school offers a range of snacks and drinks at breaktime via the Snackstop, as well as a variety of lunch options via the GladeDiner. The GladeDiner typically offers a selection of 2 hot meals including a vegetarian choice, sandwiches and hot snacks, e.g. pasta & pizza.  If pupils prefer, they can bring a packed lunch. In the first few weeks, Year 7 will be brought down to lunch early whilst they get used to how things work.

Pupils can choose to sit and eat inside the GladeDiner, or sit outside amongst the many outdoor areas around the school. Pupils can enjoy the remainder of lunch with their friends or on the Astroturf, where they can take part in a range of activities such as games of basketball, football, table tennis, or attend one of the many lunchtime clubs  hosted by their teachers. Pupils are not currently allowed to leave the school site during the day unless they have a note from their parents.

Payments

Paid School Meals

Our school uses a cashless catering system for student meals. This system allows students to quickly and securely pay for their meals using their thumbprints, eliminating the need to carry cash or cards, and speeding up meal service lines, as well as giving parents the ability to monitor their child’s meal purchases online, enhancing the dining service experience for our students and providing peace of mind for parents.

A Parent Pay account is required to utilise this service, allowing parents to top up for spending, and pupils are able to check up on their current balance and also top up using cash or coins within the school.

Free School Meals

If pupils receive Free School Meals and have registered their thumbprint, they will simply need to use their thumbprint to identify that they are entitled to a free meal. A Parent Pay account must still be activated, but you do not need to top up. All parents and guardians of pupils that join Gladesmore will receive an email and letter with instructions on how to register and set up a Parent Pay account.

If pupils do not receive Free School Meals, they will need to bring money to top up their account or bring a packed lunch.
