End of Term Arrangements
Dear Parent and Carers,
The Met Office has projected that we will experience extreme temperatures early next week. Having assessed the situation in school it has been necessary to take the precautionary decision to cancel the afternoon lesson for students on Monday 18th July. Lunch will be available as usual, but students will be able to go home after this. That is 12.30pm for children in Years 7, 8 and 9. And, 1.30pm for Year 10. Any students who cannot go home due their circumstances and/or whose parents/carers want them to stay, should go to the Success Lounge or Library.
Tuesday 19th July is the final day of the school year of usual lessons. The GladeStar Assembly will take place in the morning. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be dismissed at 12 noon and Students in Year 10 will finish at 12.50pm. Lunch will be available for all students. Students have already been provided with guidance in assemblies in relation to keeping safe and comfortable during the hot weather. Jumpers and ties will not be required next week in school. It is important to keep hydrated, so students should bring a bottle of water to school with them. They are advised to apply sun cream, shelter in the shade and be cautious of vigorous
physical activity. The outside basketball courts will be closed from breaktime.
On Wednesday 20th July, the school trips and activities plus the experience of work placements will go ahead as planned, Students should be appropriately dressed for the weather with suncream, hats, and water bottles being important. Further guidance will be provided next week. Parents are asked to kindly let us know of any children who are particularly vulnerable to the hot weather conditions.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. I wish all a pleasant summer break.
Sincerely,
Tony Hartney CBE
