The Science department is always keen to show pupils the breadth of possible Science careers beyond those that they traditionally know about, as well as the exciting opportunities available in the arts and creative fields.

On Wednesday 6th July, 50 pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 were lucky enough to take part in a presentation hosted by Framestore, a world renown animation, visual effects company and creative studio known for their contributions in some of Hollywood’s biggest movies.

Pupils got to speak to industry experts and learnt about the way in which materials scientists and anatomy specialists help to make visual effects and animation realistic. Pupils were amazed by the possible applications of visual effects technology and were full of ideas and potential uses for this technology that even surprised some experts! One pupil's idea was to create virtual reality experiences for children who are living with terminal illness, so they can experience adventures from their hospital beds.

Pupils said they enjoyed the day immensely and the experience had introduced them to careers that they hadn't considered before and may be interested in pursuing in the future.
