LAET Literature Festival at LAET Sixth Form
On Wednesday 6th July, a select group of our year 10 pupils were invited to join the Literature Festival hosted at LAET Sixth Form, where they were given a chance to get involved in a variety of different creative workshops such as drama, poetry and singing. The poetry workshop was led by an external guest called Anthony Anaxagorou who is a poet, writer and educator.
The pupils had the opportunity to watch various pupils performances of song, dance and drama after lunch. This included a shortened production of 'Hamlet' which some LAET sixth formers and year 10 pupils from Gladesmore had been working on in the months leading up to the festival with support and guidance from The Royal Shakespeare Company.
The pupils really enjoyed the energy, creativity and excitement of the day. They said the poetry workshop was interesting and thought-provoking as they tackled challenging A Level concepts such as post-colonial readings of poetry. They were also very proud to see the performance of their classmate, Saamiyah Blue-Quest, in the production of 'Hamlet'.
