Friends of Markfield Park
Gladesmore Community School is very lucky to have the fantastic Markfield Park outside our school. We use the park for our PE lessons and also a small number of school events. Gladesmore Community School was instrumental in securing funds for the redevelopment of the park a number of years ago, and so we are particularly keen to ensure that the park is a hub for the whole community.
As a community school, we take seriously the need to work with all the users of the park. We are therefore a key part of the Friends of Markfield Park organisation.
Over the past few years, our collaborations have included:
- The PTA raising funds to restore the Beam Engine
- Our gardening club helping to plant saplings in the park
- Attending planning and consultation meetings regarding the green regeneration of the park
Our students are also keen to be involved in the work of the group. The school hosts a Youth sub-committee of the Friends of Markfield Park. We also held a school-wide competition to design a new logo for the Markfield Park Heritage Trail.

Building on our work with FOMP, we are also now working with Canal Watch London to help to improve the safety of the towpath for all users.
